Tourist Visa for U.S. Citizens
WARNING: The Bolivian tourist Visa fee, for Citizens of the
United States is:

$ 135,
when obtained in any Bolivian Consulate.
·
$ 135,
when obtained upon arrival to any Bolivian international
airport or at any checking point on border.
Note: Bolivian citizens that have obtained American
nationality do not need a visa to enter to Bolivia. They must
only present a valid Bolivian ID card along with any document
that proofs their nationality: RUN number, Bolivian identity
card, birth certificate, military service card, family card (Libreta
de Familia), consular register card -CRC-, Bolivian passport
and even their US passport where it is established a field
"Place of Birth".

General Remarks
·
Beginning December 1st 2007, immigration authorities of the
Republic of Bolivia will require that citizens of United
States of America traveling as tourists to Bolivia have a
Visa.
·
The Visa will be valid for five (5) years since the date of
issue and will permit entrance to Bolivia for a total of
ninety (90) days each year.
·
A visa holder will be able to use it three (3) times per year
for a total of ninety (90) days. Only in very special cases
will the Bolivian immigration authorities extend the period of
permanency over ninety (90) days.
·
The visa application can be completed by mail or in-person at
any Bolivian Consulate.
·
To apply by mail, the user must send the Consular Office all
required documents and a pre-paid envelope with return address
in order to obtain their passport once the visa has been
issued.
·
Visas will be issued within forty eight (48) hours from the
receipt of the application and pertinent documentation.
·
If the applicant will be traveling with Bolivian friends or
relatives who live in the United States, they may write the
letter of invitation specifying the host's address in Bolivia.
·
It is recommended to use the safest way to send your passport,
either registered delivery or courier. The costs of delivery
are met by the applicant and no responsibility is taken by the
Consulate if the passport gets lost in the post.

Requirements to apply for Visa

Current U.S. Passport must be valid for at least 6 more
months.

Complete the sworn statement for visa application.

One full color passport size picture (80% of the image must
be of the face, no glasses).

Copy of the hotel reservation or invitation letter from
Bolivian friends or relatives indicating the host address.

Copy of travel itinerary, round trip ticket or note
indicating the estimated date of travel.

Copy of bank statement or equivalent that shows economic
solvency (a photocopy of Credit Card (front side) will also
be accepted).

Copy of
yellow fever vaccination certificate.
Any person older than twelve (12) month traveling to
Bolivia, must bear the International Yellow Fever
Vaccination Certificate (as long as they visit places of
risk). If a pediatrician or primary physician decides
that for health reasons a person cannot receive a Yellow
Fever vaccine, they may issue corresponding certification.

Visa fee: $ 135.00 (One hundred thirty five dollars)
in Money Order (Consulate General of Bolivia) or direct
deposit.
